Our Respite

People with disabilities encounter many barriers, which restrict their participation in life. It is vital for the interaction of the individual with the physical and social environment available to them. The primary aim is to identify people with disabilities and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary for promoting their own independence, equal opportunity, quality of life and longevity.

TAG5 offers a wide range of respite options for people with a disability and can be tailored to the client’s needs. These services include:

In-Home and Overnight Respite

This service is available to people with a disability who are living in the family home. The aim of this type of support is to provide assistance in day-to-day living activities or to enable the primary carer time off. This can include supporting our clients to attend to daily tasks such as; attend to household chores; develop good hygiene routines; set and maintain routines for the beginning/end of the day; enjoying fun activities in the home.

Emergency Respite / Accommodation

Offers a short-term emergency placement service for people with disabilities. This service is available for periods of anything from 4 hours to 6 months whilst alternate accommodation is organised or the family is able to take on the care of the person with a disability again. TAG5 will work together with the family to maintain the client's routine as much as possible while in our care.

Supported Accommodation

Provides permanent home-based respite support, assisting with everyday living and access to community services for adults living independently. This service is available for a minimum of 4 hours per day up to 24 hours per day.

Community Access Respite

This service provides opportunities for people with a disability to access the community to utilise services such as; banking, library visits, social and/or sporting activities to name a few. Strategies are developed to maintain and increase the network of relationships around each person and to provide a safe and supportive environment.
